Hardened and Tempered Strip Steel

Hardened and Tempered or Prehardened and Tempered Steel is ideal in many applications  due to the availability and use of  harder dies for forming steels. The use of these Hardened and Tempered Steels allows fabricators to eliminate the Heat Treating process after a part is formed. By doing so, fabricators no longer need to send parts out for individual heat treating. In many instances, fabricators can eliminate their in-house heat treat operations altogether... along with the environmental concerns that go with it.

Hardened and Tempered Steel is steel coil that has been subjected to a series of heating and cooling furnaces to acquire a specified hardness. We further process the steel for color and surface appearance.  Two typical colors we produce are Blue and Straw.  Others are available on request. The Thompson Companies operate the largest Hardening and Tempering facility in the United States and offer unmatched technical knowledge and service.  Count on The Thompson Companies to provide the highest quality Hardened and Tempered Steel for your application.  Commonly referred to as Spring Tempered Steel, Polished and Blued Spring Steel, Clock Spring Steel, and Scaleless Blue Spring Steel.
